Portia is the founder of Portia M Skin care. She grew up in Kriel, Mpumalanga with her parents. She however had her humble beginnings in Phalaborwa in Limpopo before she moved to live with her parents at the age of 8. During her teen years, she would make decorative cushions to sell or plait people’s hair. She started earning money quite early because of her creativity.
She completed an Information Technology diploma at the Tshwane University of Technology in 2002. She also completed a certificate in Project Management through Unisa and did an internship at Siemens.
Pregnancy-related stretch marks inspired Portia in 2010 to start selling marula oil and build a multimillion-rand business, Portia M skin care,with over R10 million in sales in 2018 alone.She was initially only selling the Marula oil but by 2013, she quit her full time job and expanded her range to include body lotions, face creams, and face washes – all clinically tested and approved. Portia M Skin is already available in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia and employs 27 full-time staff. Sis is international!!
