Our Afrikan Woman is from a humble beginning yet she managed to go through every stage of her education with flying colors despite the challenges.With just an underwear and a handkerchief,Dr. Riria attended high school which was 700km away from home in spite of her parents’ disapproval. Unfortunately,she returned home with a teenage pregnancy but this didn’t deter her from pursuing higher education. She furthered her education at Tanzania’s University of Dar es Salaam and earned a scholarship to pursue her master’s degree in the UK.
She worked on women, education and development during her PhD and has since then embarked on impacting every space she finds herself. She is indeed making a difference and inspiring many with all the challenges she’s faced from her youthful days. She possesses a beautiful perspective which views problems as challenges. Dr.Riria is the Group CEO of Kenya Women Holding, a microfinance,banking and insurance group that has employed with over 2,500 people since its inception and works with over 850,000 women. Due to her exceptional leadership skills, she has been honored both locally and on the international front. Dr. Jennifer Riria is worth our celebration.
