Our Afrikan Woman is the young visionary from Soweto, Sibongile Mongadi. Coming from a background that could have easily distracted her from being who she is today, she fought her way to impacting lives without hesitation.
After an encounter with an amputee in Johannesburg, our trailblazer was triggered to improve the lives of amputees, specifically help them gain independence. She carved a niche for herself by focusing on the less privileged amputees. Sibongile took it upon herself and started her entrepreneurial journey after this encounter by researching on the cost-effective means of realising her goal. She ended up being the brain behind Uku’ hamba Ltd, an enterprise with the mission of providing cost-effective yet high-quality prostheses to amputees,to improve their functionality, quality of life, and their independence. Sibongile’s company is bent on empowering amputees to achieve their goals without limitations. She is a multi award winner and a pride of South Africa and Soweto. Her zeal fuels her to do more so much that she can’t recall being bored or stressed out from this business of hers.
